Designed for...

…anyone who must design, submit, and present a poster at a scientific conference.

Duration

3-6 hours

The course is shorter when delivered as a lecture, and longer if students work on their own posters. The longer session includes advice and critique for each student’s poster.

Cost

My standard rate for teaching is 1530 CHF/Euro per day, or 1000 CHF/Euro per half-day.  A full day of teaching includes 6 hours of teaching in the classroom, excluding breaks (e.g., coffee, lunch). For work outside Switzerland, clients also pay travel expenses.

This course can be mixed and matched with any other course to create a full-day or multi-day program.

Poster presentations are often crowded affairs where many people walk quickly through an exhibition. Your goal, as a presenter, is to ensure your work stands out, attracts the right audience, and encourages other scientists to suggest collaborations or employers to take an interest in your work. Creating an appropriate and eye-catching poster may seem daunting to those without artistic training, but anyone can learn to do it.  This course will give you the necessary skills to design memorable posters, and cover the social skills and strategies young scientists can use to make genuine, constructive connections with peers, future collaborators and employers, and funders.
